Who Is CLG?
Based in Portland, Oregon, Chenoweth Law Group, P.C. is a business and commercial law firm providing legal solutions for both businesses and individuals. Our Pacific Northwest-based firm serves clients across Oregon, Washington, and California.
Our Philosophy—Personalized Service, Personal Relationships
Our attorneys take personal ownership of your case from the beginning. From the very first consultation meeting, we listen to your goals and focus on your needs.
More traditional law firms can tend to obscure the law by making the process mysterious and elusive. We actively avoid this by making connections with each type of client, explaining the progression of your case, and weighing the pros and cons of each step with you.
Although you may come to CLG with a discrete problem we can solve, our ultimate goal is to build a relationship that keeps you returning for your next challenge or opportunity. Similarly, we seek to promote our clients’ businesses and services whenever we can.
What We Do
CLG offers both litigation and transactional services, with the two often complementing each other.
If your dispute leads to litigation, you need an aggressive advocate in your corner. We start our cases by trying to work through the contentious issues with the opposing party, typically through informal, frank meetings or mediation. If that fails, we will be ready to pursue or defend your position in any lawsuit or arbitration claim. While our approach often produces an agreed settlement, we are always prepared to take a case to trial or arbitration if a favorable settlement cannot be reached.
CLG has successfully handled litigation at all court levels at both the state and federal level, including the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and all the way to the Supreme Court of the United States.
Because we routinely litigate business agreements gone wrong, we have developed a keen awareness of potential pitfalls or loopholes commonly found in contracts. We encourage clients to look at legal review of agreements as another layer of protection, one that insurance policies often do not protect businesses from. Our transactional law team is ready to support your business by drafting and negotiating contracts, agreements, and any other organizational or regulatory documents.
CLG attorneys focus on a range of practice areas including business and commercial litigation, business contract disputes, employment law, environmental law, real estate and land use law, personal injury, insurance disputes, intellectual property law, and wills, trusts, and estates. When you hire CLG, we will assign your case to the most-qualified attorney in that practice area whenever possible.
Creative, Flexible, Value-Based Billing
We know you want your legal fees to be spent wisely and efficiently. The attorneys at CLG will dedicate time at your initial case consultation to review your budget and expectations.
In addition to offering services on an hourly basis, we also offer creative fee arrangements such as:
Flat fees – for transactional work such as estate planning, real estate, business incorporations, or drafting contracts
Fixed fees – for certain aspects of litigation
The CLG Culture
Anyone who visits our recently renovated, tech-connected office space will see that CLG thrives on collaboration. CLG strongly believes in drawing on the strengths and experience of everyone at the firm, and we regularly share recent research or developments in the law we come across in practice.
Commitment to Giving Back
The attorneys and staff at CLG make giving back to our community a priority. Many of our attorneys are active leaders and volunteers with local nonprofits. As a firm, CLG is a proud supporter of several local organizations, especially those that promote equal access to legal services or public interest law.
In 2006, managing partner Brian Chenoweth formed Chenoweth Law Group, P.C. after his successful eight-year run as managing partner and co-founder of Rycewicz and Chenoweth, LLP. CLG was formed as a civil litigation firm to represent clients in Oregon and across the West Coast. For over a decade, CLG has continued to expand its size and services offered—the firm currently boasts 14 attorneys as well as a skilled team of paralegals and support staff.
